About
Using my background in Synthetic and Analytical Chemistry, my goal is to bring the cannabis industry into the mainstream through standardization and better understanding of this powerful medicine. I am actively involved in groups and organizations who are pushing to develop national quality standards for cannabis including the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) Cannabis Expert Panel, AOAC International Cannabis Working Group and a founding member of the CASP committee, the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL) cannabis committee, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cannabis working groups, and the American Chemical Society (ACS) Cannabis Chemistry Subdivision, as well as other cannabis, hemp, and chemical trade association committees. I also serve as the President of the Pacific Southwest division of the AOAC. I have presented at various technical and cannabis conferences and events including the Harvard Medical School, the American Chemical Society Annual Meeting, the AOAC Annual Meeting, The Emerald Cup, MJ BizCon, and many more. I have been published in several technical and trade publications including the Journal of Natural Products and Skunk Magazine. Technical Specialties: Analytical Techniques for Cannabis Testing (Cannabinoid Quant., Pesticide Residue, etc.) Instruments include, HPLC -UV, HPLC - FLD, LC/MS, GC/MS, GC(Asst. Detectors), HNMR, CNMR, SiNMR, SEM, STEM. In 2010, I co-founded SC Labs with my partners to ensure safe access to medical patients. Today, SC Labs offers comprehensive solutions for cannabis and hemp testing to top tier cannabis companies in the medical and recreational space. With 10 years of analytical data, we empower clients to make informed decisions about product safety and consistency. Cultivators, manufacturers, brands, and dispensaries rely on our science to ensure they deliver safe products to consumers. We are accredited to ISO 17025 in California and by ORELAP in Oregon. When controversial events occur in society, some customers want brands to speak out and others want brands to "stay in their place." When you’re a business leader, this can put you in a difficult position, as you may want to voice your opinion, as well as your company’s, but you also don’t want to alienate or lose customers as a result. The definition of what a leader should be has evolved over the years. With so much shifting in terms of “how,” “when” and “where” we work post-pandemic, special attention must also be given to the way in which we lead. New environments and new expectations make way for new challenges, and in order to overcome them, managers, business leaders and entrepreneurs alike must reconsider what it means to be a “modern leader” in today’s ever-evolving professional climate.
